The Objector Institute is proud to announce the publication of the 2019 revision of US Army AWOL: A Practice Guide and Form Book.
The book is authored by James M. Branum, a civilian attorney who worked primarily in the area of military criminal defense law since 2006 and is the only book of its kind, a detailed and practical guide for assisting members of the US Army who are AWOL (absent without leave).
The book includes not only instruction and commentary but also a collection of forms that can be adapted and used in US Army absence-related cases.
The 2019 edition of this book includes more than 20 pages of new content, including more exhaustive coverage of the critical issues of defenses, mitigation, extenuation and aggravation in absence cases.
This book will be available in several formats:
- Paperback – The book will be sold through most major booksellers as well as select independent bookstores, starting on September 1. The projected price will be $19.95.
- Ebook -We plan to have the book available via the Kindle, Nook and Scribd Apps, starting on September 1. The projected price will be $9.95 to purchase (or free with the scribd subscription)
- Free Ebook for Enlisted members of the US military – We will be providing the ebook for free to enlisted members of the US military, starting on September 1.
- Annual Update Service for Attorneys – Subscribers to this service will be able to login to a special website that will allow subscribers to download the book in PDF format (which can be easily printed and put in a 3-ring binder) but also to download the forms used in the book in Microsoft Word format. Subscribers will then be able to download future updates of the book (which will be coming out at least annually) and substitute the changed pages in their 3-ring binder. The projected price for this service will be $50 (one year subscription) or $100 (three year subscription). Counselors affiliated with member groups of the GI Rights Network will have complimentary access to this service.
Please note that profits received from sales of this book (after paying costs) will be directed to non-profit and activist causes including The Objector Church/Courage to Resist, the Center for Conscience in Action and the Military Law Task Force of the National Lawyers Guild.
